Bouganvillea is always beautiful. They come in many brilliant colors.
But I had never seen a tree made out of the bushes. Pretty thing isn't it,
right in the middle of 'downtown' Key Largo.

This was hanging on a crane in Key Largo over a place where they sell RVs;
Apparently they had a problem with attacking flying Hammerhead sharks.
It must have helped, because I didn't see any when I was walking around.

This is Whaling Wall #95 from the SW side in Key Largo with the name 'Keys to the Seas'.
Painted by Wyland with contributions of Guy Harvey (another ocean life artist).
He plans to do a 100 of them all over the world by 2008. The final Whaling Wall #100 will
be painted in Beijing, China during the 2008 Olympic Games and will be called 'Hands Across The Ocean'.

The Whaling Wall #95 from the NE side. Wyland created a
foundation
with the mission to promote, protect, and preserve the world’s oceans, waterways, and marine life.
There are several Whaling Walls in the Keys. See the
list of all Whaling Walls
in the world.

This is Patrick's Bayside Bar in Key Largo. A nice place to have a drink especially to see the sunset.
This was taken just before sunset.
|
|
And here is the sunset from there a little bit later.

After deeded slips, ownership of a space of water to park your boat, one now can buy a deeded space
in the air to park your boat, called a rackominium. They go for about $100.000 to $150.000 at the moment.
When you want to take your boat out, the place will put it in the water for you. Of course,
you have to pay property tax (forget about homesteading) and about $160 a month dues (BOA???).
Hurry, they go fast and prices won't last...

Buffett music is big, but in the Keys a lot of people don't like him anymore since he left Key West
and moved up north after getting rich by making music about the Keys life style. He was expected to lead
us into Conch Republic and eternal Parrotheadship. He never performs in the Keys, too small potatoes.
A warning may be appropriate...

Look at this beautiful big boy Iguana. They are plentiful but not indigenous. Its population started with
escaped or freed pets. At times of a cold spell it is 'raining' Iguanas. They fall out of the trees because
they are cold blooded and can't hold on to the branches. In some Caribbean areas the males are eaten as an
aphrodisiac because they have two penises (called hemipenis).

Somebody at 'Whale Harbor' on Islamorada had a sense of humor. The 'Scuba Hammerhead'.

For the people that think we are still in the dark ages. Well, NOT!! Since November 2007 we have a real
Starbucks. We have arrived!! There are not always people sitting there though.
It may be too trendy for here.

Yummi! Snack time for this Pelican.

Wall paint jobs are pretty popular here. This is a nice one on a hotel.
|
|
And another nice wall paint job on a dive shop.

SunCruz operates a gambling business. Three miles out they are out of territorial waters and makes it not
illegal. It's pretty nice and amazing how they made room for all the slot machines, Blackjack, Craps and
Roulette tables. Complete with bar and musical entertainment. They have spotlights to light up the water
surrounding the boat at night which attracts reef sharks. You can see them swim around the boat constantly.
When the boat comes back in, most people on it don't look very happy after such a nice ride. One wonders why...

This is 'Sailors Choice' coming back in on a late afternoon after a day's bottom fishing trip.
They hang any big Groupers they caught on the sides to show them off. Nice paint job...

The 'Reef Roamer' catamaran goes out during the day for snorkel trips, but here going out for a sunset party sail.
And partying they do. It's not uncommon that the passengers moon the bars on the canals when it comes back in.

A laid back Blue Heron waiting patiently on the deck for somebody to throw him some fish scraps.
Why hunt for it yourself, it's just too damn hot...

Kawama beach at sunset. Very nice job in painting all the furniture in Carribean colors.

Here they say 'You can't drink all day if you don't start at sunrise'. Here is one, the drinking can start...
